A 10-minute vocal warm-up routine
A good vocal warm-up takes about 10 minutes: loosen the body, wake up the breath, use lip trills and sirens to connect your range, then finish with articulation.
Minutes 1–2: body and breath
Roll the shoulders, release the jaw, and take slow breaths low into the ribs. Exhale on a long "sss".
Minutes 3–6: lip trills and sirens
Lip trill on easy five-note scales, then slide from low to high on "ng" or a straw. These connect registers with very little effort.
Minutes 7–10: vowels and diction
Sing simple scales on "mee-may-mah-moh-moo", then speak tongue twisters crisply. Finish with the first lines of your song.
