Are online singing lessons effective?
Yes — live online singing lessons are effective for most singers, provided the audio is set up for music. Breath, pitch, resonance, style and repertoire all teach well over video.
What works well online
Technique exercises, song coaching, style work, speaking voice and audition preparation all transfer well. You also practise in the room where you will actually practise.
What to watch out for
Latency means singing exactly together with your coach is not possible, so lessons use call-and-response. Poor audio settings can clip long notes — fix this in Zoom with "Original sound for musicians".
How to get the best result
Use headphones if there is echo, put the laptop at eye level, and record the session so you can review the corrections.
